We all suffer from anxiety. A degree of fear or anxiety is natural and healthy if you want to stay alive but ............ In todays society, it seems to be inevitable and pervasive, so don't worry, you're in good company. Long term, uncontrolled anxiety is the problem though. Raised adrenaline and cortisol levels over time creating health issues. Inability to sleep Loss of energy Lack of Focus Thoughts running to wildly improbable outcomes. Catastrophising Panic Attacks Heart Palpitations Tightness of the throat Inappropriate anger or Rage Endless Negative Tape Loops. It's not uncommon to begin to avoid places, people and situations to try to stop escalation. This clearly reduces your full experience of life. We live in the feeling of our thoughts. We create our reality. Most anxiety comes in the form of 'What if...?' A projection into the future. Not all, but most. The fear of 'What if they don't like me?' 'What if I have another panic attack?' What if ...?' 'What if...............?' The plain truth is that your imagination, that beautiful, imaginative and altogether powerful subconscious is working to keep you in a loop where your sympathetic nervous system is on more than off. During the fight, flight, freeze response, many psychological changes happen. It all starts in your amygdala, the fear perceiving part of your brain. The amygdala then sends signals to the hypothalamus, which stimulates the autonomic nervous system. Now if you were to meet a tiger, you'd be very grateful for your flight response, An attacker would think twice before challenging you in the full force of your fight response and your freeze response would save you because you just noticed that unexpected perilous drop before stepping into the void. All the above are healthy and life saving behaviours. The rest of the time, you're supposed to be relaxed and in the parasympathetic nervous system. This is where you are when at ease, breathing deeply, resting and digesting. It regulates sexual arousal too. The wonderful thing is that both states cannot be in control simultaneously, and I have a whole tool bag of methods to share on how to bring you back to inner peace and ultimately achieving a more enjoyable and fulfilling state of being. Remember an event that scared you? Let me make one up, One day you're driving down a new road in the rain, you meet an unexpected sharp turn, and you lose control of the car. Now although you came out ok physically, you got a real fright. Now picture another time in the future, you're driving along, and something triggers that memory, the rain on the windscreen, the curve of the road, really it could be so subtle you don't consciously notice, and it subconsciously triggers that bubble of emotion created in the first event all that time ago. It swells up and it triggers a behaviour. Sweaty palms, causing you to tighten up, constricts your throat, you brake suddenly for no apparent reason. You react fearfully in a situation where in reality, nothing is frightening or dangerous. The subconscious is simply immense in its capacity to maintain and run this 'program' for years, even the rest of your life in some cases. Remember times where you have had an emotional reaction to say a colour of a strangers eyes that are the same as an old flame, or the smell of smash potatoes instantly dragging you back to the way you felt during school dinners. Not all nostalgia causes negative behaviour, but where it does, a timely intervention can release you from the perpetual cycle of Trigger-Emotion Rising-Behaviour. Safely and carefully releasing the emotion will stop the cycle, and leave you in the clear to respond intelligently and appropriately in the present time The key to all of this is to notice and treat, calibrate how you feel, then notice and treat, till you feel better. Taking the emotion to a positive one every time. There are many sound and well established treatments and methods that I have to help you, and many others I plan to teach you. The best of all is that once you have learned what works for you, and our journey together is done, you're free to go. My job to to unravel the stress and anxiety, and to give you the tools to move ahead without the fear that anxiety has power over you. To empower you
